REVIEW: Shu Uemura maxi: hydrability moisturiser
Everyone has been saying that the main factor of skin problem is that our skin is dehydrated or not well moisturised. That is very much true, I believe.
So the other day when I went to Pavillion for shopping, (while I was hunting for a good moisturiser), I dropped by Shu Uemura to sharpen my eyebrow pencil. I discovered that Shu Uemura had a new moisturiser called the maxi: hydrability. There's 2 types of moisturiser from the maxi: hydrability range:
1) Maxi: Hydrability moisture essence-in gel.
2) Maxi: Hydrability moisture essence-in cream.
So, I got a few samples for the moisture essence-in gel which lasted me for about 5 days for 2 application each day.
I was so excited to try it on and so have I and here's my verdict:
COOL for the texture. The texture of the moisturiser is somewhat like a blurring primer with silicon-y feeling. I couldn't check the exact ingredients as I am illiterate in Japanese and this range of products are nowhere to be found in Shu Uemura Malaysia / Singapore's websites.
According to the SA, it will not break me out and it is suitable for sensitive skin. After I have tried it for 3 days, it really did not break me out nor irritate my skin. It absorbs fully into my skin without leaving any sticky feeling. It absorbs so quickly into my skin that it left me feeling I ain't putting enough amount of moisturiser. Its a good thing, though, for no need to wait for products to sink into the skin.
The trick here is to warm the product before applying onto the face. When I warm the product, it tend to changes its texture into a watery form. At first it was a gel (not dripping kind of gel) and when I warm it up, it turns into a clear and watery (not as runny as liquid water but something like xxx) form.
Before warming: Original texture of the gel |
After warming: watery-like |
It does plump up my skin, making fine lines less visible.
It did hydrate my skin well but one thing bad about this is that it made my skin VERY OILY. Surprisingly, it did not cause any break outs. It doesn't make my skin looks brighter as it has a matte finish.
Okay, I'll keep this pic small as its so oily that I feel gross to enlarge it X . X *picture taken after 3 hours of application of essence-in gel |
A piece of oil blotter after I lightly tap it onto my forehead after I took the photo above |
It has a light fragrance but it is fine as it did not trigger redness.
Price wise, its pretty costly for a moisturiser but it might be your HG hydrator but not for me. I couldn't find the information of this product on the Malaysia/ Singapore's Shu Uemura websites but you can check it out here *if you know how to read Japanese.
Overall, I will not purchase this moisturiser as it made my face an oil factory. Other than this, its good enough for sensitive skin.
